TIS has a Great Turnout at Hollywood Bowl
April 28, 2008
We had a great time this year at Hollywood Bowl. In the four years I have put this event on it was easily the largest turnout ever. The bowling alley was very supportive and kept adding lanes in for us as we had over 80 participants.
I heard about the event from many of my students Monday with one saying that if he was very good, they were going back really soon!
I will look into adding dates to this event next year.

Join us at the TIS International Pot Luck
April 28, 2008
Final PTO Meeting of the Year, Wednesday May 14th
The first International Pot Luck is happening May 14th at our last PTO meeting of the year, and everyone is invited to bring a dish! The PTO has graciously agreed to share time in it’s agenda for us to eat and mingle. Don’t worry about dinner; come to the meeting!
TIS has such a wealth of culture between families and our teachers. What better to celebrate it than with food. So, draw upon your repertoire of recipes. Maybe you have a favorite family recipe, or something you have always wanted to try cooking. Maybe you are curious about the foods from any of the Latin countries, Japan, or China and want to try cooking an authentic dish. May 14th is the day! Share it with your TIS community at the PTO meeting. It can be anything from the simple to the sublime. All you have to do is make a dish that can serve 6 people and bring a serving spoon.
Look for further notice next week. If you have any questions feel free to contact Ellen Goldsmith at ellengoldsmith@mac.com

Library Media Center Update
April 28, 2008
The Library Media Center is already bursting at the seams with over 3,500 items! There are even more books to catalog and process, but no space for bookcases to store them. The staff and students are looking forward to our larger space next year. In the meantime, here is a breakdown of the current materials:
Books 3,226
A/V Materials 78
Audiobooks 10
Other 39
Periodicals 100+
There are currently 404 items checked out. The students are doing a great job taking care of the books and returning them on time. However, a few of you may have lost or damaged a book. In such case, please contact the librarian so that your child may continue to check out books. Bills for lost or damaged materials will be sent out at the end of May.
Thank you to all who have donated books and other materials to the library in recent weeks. Thanks to your generosity the students are enjoying Chinese language Disney movies, English and Spanish Goosebumps books, getting to know Laura Ingalls Wilder and craving more graphic novels!

Imagine TIS with School Lunches Available Every Day
April 28, 2008
Are you a fan of Pizza Monday? What about Chef Naoko’s lunches?
TIS is considering working with another vendor to bring lunches to TIS the other 3 days of the week. Organic Fresh Fingers www.organicfreshfingers.com is a Salem-based company that produces commercially available frozen foods and delivers fresh lunches to several area day-care centers and schools. To learn more about this company and what they can arrange for our school, plan to attend the next PTO meeting on Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 PM for an Organic Fresh Fingers presentation.
Please take a look at the company website and let us know what you think about this idea.
You can post comments here! Or, you can contact Jessica Duke (jessica@urbatsch.com ), Health and Wellness Committee.
All questions will be sent to Organic Fresh Fingers.
The CEO of Organic Fresh Fingers says ~
