Capstone 5th Grade Academic Trips Abroad

As the ultimate Capstone to their International School education, our fifth grade students take a two 5th_girl_in_spain.jpgweek spring trip to a country where their target language is spoken. The students travel with their teacher and parent chaperones to experience life with their second language. The children tour parts of the country, then visit our sister schools where they attend classes and make friends. Capstone trips are truly formative events for these children.

The Capstone Committee is a group of parents, teachers, and staff that guides the plans for the trips. The committee shapes the trip guidelines and ensures that all preparations are in place for smooth passage. The committee also raises money to cover travel expenses for teachers, for students receiving financial aid, and for the many miscellaneous expenses.

Parents of every grade level are highly encouraged to participate in and contribute to Capstone activities. Designated fundraisers include Bake Sales, Friends and Family Night, Wine-tasting, and T-Shirt Sales. Each class receives a portion of the funds raised, so that by fifth grade, the class has a head start on its funding needs.
