Music Curriculum - playing, listening, creating
The benefits of a musical education are many. Musically trained children are able to add layer upon layer of musical knowledge to their earliest experiences.
This early training - LEARNING REPERTOIRE AND NOTATIONAL LITERACY, AND DEVELOPING THE SKILLS FOR PERFORMING, RESPONDING TO, AND CREATING MUSIC - can inspire children to continue musical activities into their adult years. The beauty of music in childhood becomes more than mere memory; it is the seed that takes root and is nourished through training.
The Music Department at The International School began as an all-volunteer program, and is now taught by experienced specialists.
The music curriculum is designed to teach all styles of learners - aural, visual, and kinesthetic - and is based on the National Standards for Music Education. The program provides a comprehensive musical training, which the children will take with them on their lifelong journeys.
