10/10-Art from Carolina

1st grade has been tracing their bodies and adding different things about their lives that they love and cherish, therefore making a "map" of themselves based on the Body Mapping Project. Body Mapping was started by Jonathan Morgan in South Africa, initially to support those who had HIV/AIDS. The idea is to make a memory box of your body, celebrating everything the body does that brings joy and/or makes us grow as individuals through difficult experiences. I did not share the background of Body Mapping with the students, as the subject is quite heavy, though I feel compelled to share the source, for it has inspired very many other amazing projects for both adults and children.
