The kids are bubbling over with excitement for this coming break! It has been fun to use that energy in our dances.
Our Swedish song, Fjaskern, slowly gets faster and faster which is a great way to burn off some energy. Our other dance is a traditional English folk song called Oats and Beans and Barley Grow which is a fun way to incorporate singing with dancing.
For some of our rhythmic work we have been using hand games such as the American game Lemonade and Mi, Mi, Mi which is an Indonesian version of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Our singing piece in Hebrew is really starting to take off and the students are working hard on learning Bim Bum, a body percussion piece set to a simple melody. I am excited to see where this next year takes us and just how much we can improve as musicians.
