Kindergarten is exploring the holiday season with songs about Kwanzaa this week, Hanukkah next week and Christmas sprinkled throughout!
We are also expanding our listening skills with activities that include movements from the Nutcracker and “Bean Bag Rock.” Bean bags are a new manipulative in our music room and the students seem to be having a lot of fun with them.
We have been focusing our instrument time on simultaneously singing and playing. The trick is that we are only allowed to play on certain words. The control and rhythm that this requires is some what challenging but the students are doing great! We are keeping with the African songs and have been singing “Umbalayo.” Our most recent dance is a silly one that ends with the kids heads on the ground called “Seven Jumps.” It certainly brings out the giggles! I wish you all happy holidays!
