April 19, 2015: Art

First Grade is wrapping up their study of endangered species and will start a unit on observational drawing and notebook keeping, from sketchbooks they have made themselves with recycled materials.

Each class will consist of a different method of notebook keeping, including background techniques and collages. All that will go into their sketchbook will be drawn by the student, and most of what we will do will still be observational drawing until the end of school.

On sunny days, I even plan on taking the students to the garden to sketch "en plein air".
I am truly amazed by the level of drawing that first grade can achieve! Every single student has improved fine motor skill wise since the beginning of the year and I am really excited to see what amazing things they will do in this last unit!

See you around campus,
