LowK is growing up before my very eyes! We have been working on beginning hand games like "Hot Cross Buns" and "One Potato." The students have pretty much mastered the clap, pat, clap, pat pattern so now we are trying to incorporate the crisscross pattern where the two partners high-five their right hands, clap and then high-five their left hands. Feel free to work on this at home as it will help speed things up in the classroom.
We are still doing our free style dances such as "Over in the Meadow" where children listen for an animal and everyone is the classroom dances like that animal. We have also started doing previously composed dances like "Seven Jumps." We are still working on vocal explorations poems and I would encourage you to ask your child about "Big Pig, Big Pig" and see if they can recite it for you.
Another poem we are enjoying is, "Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Waggle." Our books are some Scottish favorites, The Frog and the Mouse and some silly favorites such as Down by the Bay. Well, that's just a brief look at some of the things going on in our classroom. I hope your February is going well!
