Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break. It is definitely good to be back.

PreK is working on musical opposites with a rhythmic poem called, “2 Little Blackbirds.” In the poem, we show contrast between fast and slow, high and low, and other musical ideas. Students are working on singing, steady beat and coordination with an Autumn favorite, The Ants Go Marching. A fun little game that we just started involves singing, Bounce High Bounce Low, and rolling a ball to different classmates.

Vocal exploration is one of my favorites to have the children participate in as we imitate sirens and moving up and down the scale. Our book this week is a new addition in the series of a A Little Old Lady Who Swallowed… The kids love all the weird things she eats and they enjoy the repetition of the lyrics.

I hope everyone has a great start to a great year!
