Stephan Grasmuck's update

Strategic planning
Last week, I published the newly-minted Values, Mission, and Vision for the school. As we continue to move forward with the Strategic Planning process, the development of goals and strategies toward attaining the vision becomes the next step in the process. Thanks to the many parents who attended last week at the drop-in sessions at the school in order to provide input into the next phase. The Strategic Planning Team continues to work on this, with more stakeholder sessions, including with staff, of course, taking place this week.

Sakura Matsuri
This is a reminder that the Japanese Festival Sakura Matsuri takes place on Friday this week in the school gym. We look forward once again to our student presentations. The new gym flooring will certainly enhance the gym space as a much nicer venue for the Festival.

Head lice
A few more cases of head lice were discovered in one classroom last Friday. Parents, please review carefully the information provided in this update from a week ago - it is in the News & Information section of ITK. A review of the suggested videos and the textual information provides important advice as to how to look for and treat head lice. As we know, constant cooperation between home and school is the only way to eliminate these lice pests from our classrooms.

IB-PYP presentation
I extend our warmest thanks to PYP Co-ordinator, Erika Kohn, and faculty members Maria Lira, Chisa Terano, Hong Shentu, and Teresa Wirsching for their fine work in presenting sample lessons to the audience at the PYP session last Thursday evening. Now in our candidacy phase, and as we continue to implement the PYP through each track, we draw ever closer to member status in the IB organization.
