12th Annual Emanuel Book Drive

Please donate your gently used children's books for Emanuel pediatric cancer patients. Collection bins are at entry areas in Stearns, Main Building, and Arthur/Corbett.

This is a TIS 3rd grader community service project. Our 3rd graders will be gathering, counting and delivering the books to Emanuel Hospital.

(Please put your adult books in the library collection bins - the library committee sells them to generate cash for new TIS library books & services.)

Started by Mary Stevenson (parent of three TIS graduates), the Annual Book Drive to benefit the Emanuel Pediatric Cancer Unit will be taking place this year during the month of April. Over the past twelve years nearly 15,000 books have been collected by TIS students and donated. The books are used as rewards for children who attend their (often painful) cancer treatments. Three years ago this event became the Third Grade Community Service Project. All four third-grade classes will be working together to gather, count, and deliver the books to Emanuel Hospital.

Collection bins will be in the Main Building,  Stearns' Hall, and at Arthur/Corbett. We can accept gently used or new books for all reading levels and in any language--although English and Spanish are the most popular. If you have any questions, please contact any third grade room parent.

Thank you for supporting the third grade classes and the Pediatric Cancer Unit.
