Stephan Grasmuck's update

Dr. Orsini
Please take a moment to read Dr. Orsini’s warm note of appreciation included in this edition of In The Know and addressed to all TIS parents following his recent visit to the school. I know that Dr. Orsini really looks forward to working with you upon his arrival this summer.

Curriculum preview nights
This is a reminder to all parents about the annual curriculum preview nights taking place this week. The evening for Spanish track parents is Wednesday, April 15th. For Chinese and Japanese, Thursday, April 16th is the date.

Open House
The TIS open house for prospective families is this Friday, April 17th from 9 AM to 1 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce the school to someone whom you may know and who is interested in the extraordinary opportunities available to children through the TIS curriculum and culture.

Earth Day Fair
Please stop by the gym at 3:00 on Friday this week to participate in the Earth Day Fair. There is always more to learn about sustainability and things we can all do to improve our environment. I extend our sincere thanks to Green Committee member Sybil Ackerman and everyone else who has worked to organize this for their time and talent in hosting this event.

Latino Festival
The TIS Latino festival is on Monday next week at 10 AM (please arrive at 9:30). We look forward to another wonderful event from our Spanish track students and staff! Please help us to teach the children to respect their fellow students’ and the staff efforts by remaining at the performance through to the end, if at all possible.

PTO meeting next week
The PTO meeting on April 21st (6:30pm) will feature presentations from the Spanish Capstone trip. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the extraordinary benefits of Capstone for our grade 5 students each year. The Chinese Capstone presentation will occur in the May meeting.

I wish for everyone a lovely week.
