Stephan's update

PTO
Thanks to everyone who attended last week’s PTO meeting. A clear highlight for everyone was the Chinese Capstone presentation. Congratulations to the grade 5 students, their parents, and their teacher Jennifer for having given everyone such an enlightening depiction of your time spent in China.

As I mentioned last week, the importance of strong, effective, supportive volunteerism is paramount for all of the best private schools. TIS is fortunate to have talented and passionate volunteers in so many aspects of the school’s programming.

Last week, at the final PTO meeting of the year, the audience acknowledged the PTO Executive members for their outstanding service to this school community. Debbie Rink – Secretary, Peter Maxwell – Treasurer, Kimmy Simon - New Parent Liaison, Debbie Richman - Volunteer Coordinator, Kathy Guilfoyle - Vice president, and of course Paula Prince – President, received strong applause and token gifts of appreciation for all that they have done for the school this year. Well done and thank you, all!

The audience assembled also elected next year’s Executive. They are:

  • President - Kathy Guilfoyle

  • Vice President - Kimmy Simons

  • Treasurer - Bob Bondaruk

  • Secretary - Jessica Duke

Congratulations to them, and I know that these good people will continue to serve the TIS community so very well.

Three positions remain vacant and require strong team players and committed volunteers to move the school forward in key areas:
New Parent Liaison
Volunteer Coordinator
Pizza Monday Captain

Please consider applying for one of these positions by contacting Paula Prince at paula_prince@comcast.net. The students and staff of TIS need your support.

Wine tasting/Library fund raiser
The event went very well and we must thank TIS volunteers once again for their time and effort toward the success of this fund raiser. Special thanks to Cheryl Meloy, Kathy Guilfoyle, Susan Marcus, Martha Koerner, Paula Prince, David Chen and Jill Price, Michelle Kerin, and the many parent donors who gave so generously. Well done, everyone!

Annual Meeting
A reminder of the Annual Meeting taking place in the gym on Thursday this week at 6:30.

May you all enjoy a safe Memorial Day weekend as the unofficial start to the summer of 2009!
