A Pocketful of...Poems

April is National Poetry Month. TIS began the month with a visit from Oregon's Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen. Ms. Petersen was treated to poetry readings by our very creative TIS students. Poetry readings by students continue during library classes for the duration of the month.

Ask your student about Pocket Poems. For the second year, a pocket filled with colorful, pocket-sized poems can be found at the entrance to the library during April. Students are encouraged to take one to keep, to share, to read in class, etc. This is amazingly popular and more than 2,500 poems have been taken so far. I apologize for any bits of colored paper in the clothes dryer!!!
