I know that some of you are bemoaning the upcoming start of school, early wake ups and homework routines. Others are excitedly planning for September 7 after drop off, or will be happy not to be juggling work and children at home. I am excited to have children back in the hallways, though always want a little more time to get the school ready.
The admin team will spend the next week finishing off schedules and class assignments, preparing things for teachers, getting classrooms ready, and of course finishing up facilities projects. Teachers come back to school next week and will spend the week collaborating on lesson plans and setting up their classrooms.
By September 1 you will receive an e-mail notifying you of your child's teacher and classroom. Thank you for your patience on this. There are many little enrollment changes in August and if we did classroom assignments earlier we would just need to redo them.
If you have not already gone through all the registration steps, please do that by this Thursday, August 25 at intlschool.org/register (password is the 2011-2012 All-Parent Password. For Step 1 you'll need your personal password - contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need it resent). We have already started processing registrations and need to get it all done before school starts. Registration is the way to tell us your emergency contacts and authorized pick-up people, see school supply lists, sign up for lunch options and volunteering, provide required immunization updates, and more.
When you come to school, remember that Maria Abad and I have switched offices and phone numbers. My office is now in Stearns Hall, and Maria Abad (now Head of Early Childhood) is on the top floor of the Hilltop Building.
