In case of an unanticipated school closure (snow, ice, security issue), TIS has a 4-pronged plan to contact parents. If the closure starts mid-day, we initiate the ECS as soon as the decision is made. Staff member(s) stay until all students are picked up. If school is closed for the day, we initiate the ECS by 6am. The ECS includes:
- Phone contact (by automated calling service) to every number we have on file for every parent.
- Email to all addresses that receive ITK
- A notice posted to intlschool.org/weather (which links to http://flashalert.net/news.html?id=938), which will also be broadcasted by OPB, KATU and other local news sources.
- An outgoing message on the TIS main phone number (503-226-2496)
Please note that technology outages may prohibit any or all of these methods - we will keep trying. (We do not have the capability to send text messages at this time.) If your phone numbers or e-mail addresses change, please update them ASAP at intlschool.org/portal.
