Poetry 诗 Poesía 詩

April is National Poetry Month. The TIS Library is sponsoring several poetry activities including our third year of an entire month of "pocket poems." Pockets filled with colorful, pocket-sized poems can be found at the entrance to the library during April. Students are encouraged to take one to keep, to share, to read in class, or to give to a friend. Students will share original poetry or pocket poems during April library classes.

TIS is honored to welcome back Oregon's Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen on April 25. She will hear and encourage our student poets during two assemblies.

We are fortunate to have poets and lovers of poetry on our TIS staff. Throughout April, a few of them will share their favorite poems here and on the library webpage. English teacher Lara Fowdy-Drouhard is our first reader. Thank you Lara!

The library owns a good selection of poetry anthologies and collections in English and our immersion languages. Stop by after school until 3:30 M-TH to check one out!
