(From a LowK teacher's email to parents) "This week we have been having some decision making in the classroom. We have a classroom pet (stuffed animal) and the children worked together deciding if it was male or female. The children voted for the pet’s gender by writing M for “macho-male” or H for “hembra-female” in a small piece of paper. Then we counted the Ms and Hs and the bigger amount won. So our classroom pet is a male. We had 10 children voting for male and 5 children voting for female. To give you an idea, this is the way that we do math in our classroom."
