In a recent issue of ITK, we announced that we expected Lara Drouhard, one of our English teachers to return in November following her maternity leave. As occasionally happens, things have changed since that announcement. Lara recently informed us that she will resign from TIS in order to spend her time with her new son. While we respect and celebrate her decision as a mother, we will miss her as a colleague. As a result of her decision, we have begun our recruiting process in order to identify her replacement in the English Department.
What follows is Lara's personal message to the TIS Community.
I will not be returning to TIS in November at the end of my maternity leave as originally planned. I have decided to take a break from teaching in order to be home with our son for his first year. I am unimaginably happy in my new role as a mother and am overjoyed to be able to spend my days with Miles!
Thank you for your trust and friendship during my years at TIS. What an honor it has been to be a member of such a diverse and supportive community. TIS's students, staff, and families have enriched my life in innumerable ways. Thank you!
All my best,
