The TIS community has been a very important part of my life for over ten years. I have grown and learned a tremendous amount from our incredible parents, students and my amazing colleagues - both teachers and administrative staff. So it is with considerable emotion that I have decided to leave TIS at the end of May. Email - even my beloved ITK - is hardly adequate to share my affection, regard, and the relationship that I feel with you all. From our first encounters at open houses, to summer playdates, drop-off chats, and the completely rich and random assortment of Monday afternoon questions that come as replies to ITK - it all makes me smile. My behind-the-scenes work has also been intensely rewarding and has taught me so much.
Nevertheless, it feels like time to invoke "reflection" and "risk-taking", and to see what else is out there for me. Last year I started working toward another Master's degree, this time in teaching English to speakers of other languages, with a focus on teaching adults. I am completely engaged and fascinated, and am eager to delve into that more deeply. I also have two teenage boys who will not be home forever, and I want to spend less time at my computer when they are around.
I have given three months notice so there is plenty of time to hire someone great and to have lots of overlap before I leave. In case you know anyone who might be interested, the position will be listed on our web site Employment page in a week or so. It will be fun to figure out my job description ...
Thank you so much for all your support and confidence over time. I'm going to stop there for now; we have plenty of time for goodbyes.
