The International Baccalaureate PYP approach is what underpins and unites our diverse community. Though parents cite the IB as an attractive and important reason for choosing The International School, they often find it a bit challenging to understand it themselves! What is the Program of Inquiry, and how does it interact with the Learner Profile? How can we meet Common Core standards but also be IB?
For this month's Head of School Coffee, please join Robert Woods and IB Curriculum Director Abelid Verri for a Parent's Primer on the IB. Topics will include:
- On overview of inquiry-based learning
- The essential elements of the IB PYP
- IB in the classroom: What does it look like?
- How academic programs like 6+1 and Eureka Math can support the IB
- How parents can support the IB
Whether you are new to the school or have been here a while but need a refresher, this coffee will help you to become well-versed in all things IB. All adults are welcome.
Wednesday, November 18, 8:30am - 9:30am. Arthur Street Building, 0122 SW Arthur (corner of Water and Arthur Streets).*
*EC Parents: Stay tuned for a special Head of School Early Childhood coffee next month!
