TIS is excited to welcome Lorena Perellon, our new Kindergarten Spanish teacher, to our community. Some of you may have had the pleasure of already meeting her at TIS Summer Camp this year. Lorena has been involved in Spanish as a Second Language education for 9 years, and has taught both elementary-aged children and adults in both Italy and the United States. Most recently, she was a Spanish teacher as St. John the Baptist School in Milwaukie, which followed several years of teaching in Minnesota.
Lorena says: “I´m very lucky to have the opportunity to work in an intercultural environment like TIS. It´s awe-inspiring to see kids communicate in different languages with each other at very a young age. I love teaching kids; they share vitality! I want to be part of their education, as they help and grow together. The best thing of this job is to see how the students grow as independent persons at the end of the school year.”
Lorena received her BA in Italian Philology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and her Master’s in Spanish as a Second Language at UNED. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian. When not teaching, Lorena enjoys yoga, spending time with her friends and of course, travelling. She has also developed a passion for American brunch culture!
