TIS welcomes Laura Nunez, our new 1st Grade teacher in the Spanish Track. Originally from Mexico City, Laura came to Oregon in 2012. She has 19 years of elementary school teaching experience, in both English and Spanish. She has a BA in Early Childhood Education, with an advanced degree in Early Childhood Education Therapy. Laura is familiar with TIS, as she has been a substitute here for the past several years. Laura says:
I have been working as a teacher for many years, and now that I have the opportunity to work in TIS I am sure I will learn and enjoy from this new experience. Being able to see how the children learn a second language is very satisfactory for me, since I am sure that this knowledge will be useful in their life.
Laura is an avid hiker, and love the exercise and being outdoors. She also like to read, work with crafts at home, and go to concerts with her family. She loves to cook, and she and her high school-aged son run a cooking class for kids together.
