Last week we had the honor of hosting 18 students and 2 teachers from the Suzhou Experimental Elementary School (SEES), our Capstone host school in China. The visiting students are the same ones that our 5th graders will stay with during Capstone. It was a busy week with music lessons on Ghanaian drumming, after-school excursions to Mt. Hood or putt-putt golf, a ping pong party, many fun adventures in translation and much more!
A huge thank you to the parents of the Chinese 5th grade class for welcoming these students into their homes and making their week at TIS so memorable. And special thanks to TIS teachers Christy Appleberry, Janet Olson, Peter Musselman, Sarah Harpole, and Coach Robert for engaging the SEES students in their classes all week. The SEES students said that school at TIS was so fun!
The opportunity to be a host school strengthens our ongoing commitment to encourage cross-cultural exchange and global citizenship among our students and community. The SEES students' visit also set an example for our 5th graders, who will be host students in a foreign school during Capstone in March. Our 5th graders depart for their Capstone adventures in just 4 weeks!
