In Fall 2015, The International School community rallied together and successfully completed a $3 million capital campaign.
Learners' Hall, our new 4th and 5th grade building, will be completed in August 2016. The 2016-17 school year will be the inaugural year in Learners' Hall!
Learners' Hall is an exciting milestone for TIS. As our first ever purpose-built building on campus, the 10-classroom building also includes two shared activity areas and a large teacher prep lounge.
The International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum is rooted in student-led inquiry: in a PYP class, children work collaboratively to answer their own questions about the unit’s topic. They research, experiment, and problem solve their way through activities set up by the teacher. The shared activity areas provide the right space for students to spread out and work collaboratively on any particular unit.
Furniture for these collaborative work spaces, including stacking chairs, tables that can be arranged in different configurations, and mobile science carts, was directly supported by donors who generously raised over $80,000 to our 2015-16 Auction Gala Special Appeal!
