Our School Community
We have been delighted with so many aspects of ISP. Of course, the language immersion is amazing, but perhaps more importantly, we have the sense that our daughter is really seen and known at school, which means the world to us. We believe in ISP’s mission and see the teachers and staff working hard with it in mind every day. We’re so grateful to have joined this wonderful community.
Since the school’s founding in 1990, the International School of Portland has brought together people from many countries and backgrounds for the shared mission of developing multilingual global citizens.
This common purpose has drawn staff and families into a culture of community and support for one another. Thanks to the school’s small classes, students and teachers develop very close relationships and affection that lasts well beyond the school year and a child’s graduation.
The diversity of our community informs every aspect of ISP life. Our students experience many cultures thriving individually and working together. ISP students learn to truly appreciate and communicate – beyond mere words – with people with all types of backgrounds.
The school’s mission and values, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile traits, helps knit the entire community together, establishing a common vocabulary and expectations for how we interact with one another.
